Gratitude as a Growth Tool: Shifting Focus from Lack to Abundance

Welcome to your own little gratitude scavenger hunt. A simple way to notice the good that’s already around you, even if it’s easy to miss.
Clue 1: Look Back
Think about the past week. Can you remember one moment (big or small) that made you smile or gave you a bit of relief? Maybe someone held the door open, maybe you enjoyed a proper cup of tea, or just had five quiet minutes to yourself.
Write it down. That’s your first little treasure.
Clue 2: Seek the Unexpected
Now think about your day today. Is there something you usually overlook that’s actually quite nice? A sound, a smell, a small kindness – anything. Maybe it’s the way your morning routine flows, or a quick message from someone who cares.
Note it down. That’s gem number two.
Clue 3: Unearth Your Strength
Take a moment to look inward. What’s one personal quality that helped you recently? Maybe it was patience. Maybe you stayed calm in a tough moment. Maybe you just kept going. Even a sense of humour counts.
Acknowledge it. That’s your hidden gold.
Clue 4: Connect the Dots
Now look at what you’ve collected… those small moments, overlooked details, and inner strengths. What do they show you about what you already have? How does it feel to recognise those things?
That feeling – that’s your final prize.
When you practice gratitude like this, you’re training your mind to focus less on what’s missing and more on what’s already here. It’s not just about feeling good, it’s about building resilience, reducing stress, and reminding yourself that there’s more abundance around (and within) you than you might think.
This isn’t a one-off exercise. It’s an invitation to keep looking for the little treasures each day.
So, ready for another round?
