I cannot believe we’re entering the second quarter of 2018. It feels like we’ve just packed away the Christmas tree and sent the kids off to school. Yet the Easter school holidays are now upon us, and if your calendar looks like mine… my annual check-up with my doctor.
Even as a Wellness Practitioner I find myself coming up with all sorts of excuses to avoid and cancel my annual medical. I feel fine, my schedule is full, it can wait…
However, I love myself enough to follow through. It is human nature to fear the unknown, but an annual health check-up provides health information which can be valuable in identifying early health issues such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Wellness is more than healthy eating, exercise and rest. It’s about quality of life, and being in control of your health.
So, I’m going to check my blood pressure, BMI, glucose levels and cholesterol. I’m also going to have the age-appropriate screens for cancers, and other illnesses my family history puts me at risk for.
