We’re well into 2017, and I feel like I’ve hit the ground running. My work and personal life is all go, go, go at the moment – and some mornings I wake-up not quite sure where to start. I’ve constantly got to remind myself to slow down and take a deep breathe.
And that is my message this month – be kind to yourself, and take a deep breathe (you’ll also live longer).
It is so easy to get caught up in everything that is going on around you. Many of us are juggling a number of roles at the same time, and it’s perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed and stressed out.
Please be kind to yourself. Take a minute, take a deep breath and focus on what is important… you!
There are a variety of stress management tools and techniques that work well for different people. However, you’d be surprised how effective a deep breathe can be.
Try this 8-4-7 breathing technique next time you are feeling stressed out:
Exhale deeply, loudly through your mouth for 8 seconds
Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds
Hold your breath for 7 seconds
Repeat
I’m sure the better breathing and upcoming public holidays will fare you well for the weeks ahead.
